What is a School-Based Traineeship?
School-based traineeships provide high school students an opportunity to get ahead in the workforce by undertaking training and practical experience while completing their senior schooling (years 11 and 12). A traineeship combines paid employment as a trainee, off-the-job vocational training and senior secondary school studies.
Support transitions from school to work and promote education, training and employment opportunities for high school students.
Provide students with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge relating to actual employment situations.
Allow students to start, and in some cases complete, a vocational qualification while still at school.
Improve post-schooling employment and training pathways for students.
Improve links between education and industry, school and local community.
A Career Pathway
Students continue to work with their host employer post high school to develop a career in the aged, community, disability and hospital industries.
A Pathway to University
Many graduates of the School-Based Traineeship continue their career path post high school with entry into universities for nursing studies.
Masonic Sandgate and Anglicare Taigum
Royal College of Healthcare has, for many years, proudly partnered with Masonic Care Sandgate and Anglicare Taigum to deliver a program for local students to gain entry into a traineeship in CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) while still in years 11 and 12 giving them a pathway into a career in the health industry.
Fee Free Post High School Studies
Students can access state government funding to complete CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) within 12 months of completing their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Royal College of Healthcare has classes in major regional towns in Queensland, in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
